Discover the hinterland of Lake Garda. The tortuous street, that goes from Gargnano to the Valvestino, offers very beautiful overviews of the lake Garda and of the Mount Baldo. At the only junction you have to turn left and you reach the village of Navazzo, where you can park your car. By mountain bike you start to pedal towards Capovalle, Lake Idro and Valvestino.
The asphalted street deviates from the village going to west. Traveling along this street you can admire the rocky peak of the Mount Castello of Gaino and the impressive mount Pizzocolo.
The street that leads to the dam has no strong gradient and for this reason it is suited also for those persons, who are not particularly trained. After having gone beyond the resort of Verzellina and Caverona, the most spectacular part of the itinerary begins. The street skirts the stream Toscolano up to the impressive wall of the dam. During the way you can restore yourself with fresh water by some springs. On the other side of the valley you can admire the woody slope of the mounts Alberelli and Alberelletti.
The crossing of a bridge signals the proximity of the dam, that you reach after some curves and a short light slope. A large square allows you to rest in front of the wall, while immediately behind it you can admire the collected water and a part of the Vesta Valley on the opposite slope. The return trip is along the same itinerary.
If you want you can go over the wall for some kilometers, skirting the dam up to the mill Bollone. This place represents the entrance to enter the Valvestino, a jewel of the hinterland of the lake Garda and the heart of the park of the upper lake Garda, that it is worth to be discovered.
